The Oov is described as a revolutionary way to develop balance and strength—and we agree!
This therapy tool reflects what’s going on in your body. Through the 3-dimensional foam which contours your body, the Oov guides your inner senses to find balance from within.
Whether you’re:
- Seeking a workout program after a diagnosis,
- Wanting to develop proper movement habits,
- Looking to build strength to prevent physical injury, or
- Ready to take your Pilates practice to the next level…
We recommend a regular Oov practice for its subtle (yet powerful) stretching, core strengthening, and rehabilitation benefits.
While people of all skill levels can use the Oov, this series of classes is for the intermediate to advanced Oov student who needs minimal instruction on positioning themselves. If you are new to Oov and want private instruction, please call the re:fit front desk at (847) 657-0881. You can find more free intro to Oov videos here! https://videos.theoov.com/catalog

About the Teacher
Noel Brandis has been a Pilates instructor with re:fit since 2003. When she was first introduced to the Oov, her skeptical response was, “Another fad Pilates tool?!” But after experiencing the noticeable effects of the Oov for herself, she quickly incorporated it into her Pilates classes. Now, Noel teaches Oov classes (some incorporating Pilates), along with being the Director of Fitness at re:fit.
Noel promotes physical balance as part of living a balanced life. In our fast-paced world, we feel pressure to do more while having to manage more distractions. Developing intuitive physical strength and stability are key ingredients to discerning our next best step, being able to do what matters most, and living a good life.
Prior to joining re:fit, Noel graduated from Bard College with a BA in dance, and taught Pilates in New York. Her background in dance gives her Oov and Pilates instruction another dimension of understanding the body and optimal movement patterns. She enjoys the diversity of teaching those who are brand new to fitness, as well as movement professionals.
Less neck and upper back tightness
"I have taken Oov classes online from re:fit for over a year. I have noticed an improvement in upper back mobility (less neck and upper back tightness), greater shoulder strength, deepening core strength, and increased balance throughout my body. The Oov exercises can be quite challenging, but through repetition, I have seen improvement in my abilities, and enjoy the changes in my body."
~ K.T., yoga and pilates instructor
Transformational for me
While I love my Pilates lessons, the Oov class I've been taking for the past three years has been transformational for me. The Oov has helped my body be able to adjust and adapt more easily to a variety of activities without feeling sore. For instance, as an avid gardener I am constantly reaching into beds in awkward positions, but my improved balance and core strength has made this a lot easier. The Oov exercises are subtle and challenging at the same time. So powerful!
